TROY, NY (April 10, 2011) -- The Vassar College baseball team suffered final-inning 5-4 losses in both games of the second doubleheader against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Sunday at Robison Field.

RPI sophomore Kevin Prosicki delivered the game-winning RBI-single and junior Dan Duval threw an 11-inning complete game to lead RPI to a 5-4, 11-inning, victory over Vassar in game one. Sophomore Chuck Erickson then won game two with a double to centerfield as the Engineers won, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh.

The Brewers (10-10, 5-7 Liberty League) host cross-river rival SUNY New Paltz this Wednesday, April 13, at 4:00 p.m. RPI (13-8, 6-2) returns to the diamond next weekend, when it visits Rochester for a four-game series, beginning on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

RPI overcame a 4-0 deficit to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs in the RPI half of the 11th, sophomore Jonny Rio drew a walk. Classmate Tanner Boucher then pulled a single to right, before Prosicki came through with game-winning RBI-base hit to second base, scoring Rio all the way from second.

Duval earned his fourth win of the season (4-1) by allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in game one. He struck out five, while walking five. The righthander did not allow a run after the fifth inning.

Vassar junior Zachary Prudoff was tagged with the loss, allowing just one run on seven hits in 5.2 innings. He struck out two and walked five. Brewers' starter John MacGregor went 5.0 innings, surrendering four runs (1 earned) on nine hits. He recorded four strikeouts with a walk.

Vassar senior catcher David Ringold picked up his first home run of the season. Erickson went 3-for-6 in the days first contest, while Boucher finished 2-for-4 with a run scored an RBI.

In game two, the Engineers once again won in come-back fashion, plating three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead.

After the Brewers tied the game in the top of the seventh, Erickson ripped a double to the wall in center, scoring Boucher from second for the 5-4 walk-off win.

Engineers starter Levi Wasburn picked up the win (1-0) in his first start of the season, allowing four runs on seven hits in 7.0 inning. Pitching a complete game, he struck out eight, while walking four.
