POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 5, 2011) -- Although Bard College scored first, it would be its only lead of the night as the Vassar College women's basketball team cruised to a 68-27 victory Wednesday evening at the Athletics and Fitness Center.
The Brewers led 26-14 at half and grew the lead in the second half with strong inside play and a 57.1 percent three-point percentage. Vassar outrebounded Bard 52-37 and gleaned 25 second chance points to Bard's six. The Brewers attacked the rim for 26 points in the paint to Bard's 10.
The Brewers (4-5) will face Elmira College on the road on Saturday, January 8 at 7 p.m. The Raptors (2-7) play St. Joseph's on the road this Saturday at 3 p.m.

Hannah Senftleber combined for 59 of Vassar's 68 points. Each chipped in eight first half points and Senftleber finished a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds, her third double-double this season. Matsuoka posted 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists while Parks tallied 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Bard senior forward Latiqua Williams tied the game at 4-4 with a putback of her own miss but this was the game's final tie as the Brewers surged for an 18-2 run, capped off by an offensive rebound and finish by Senfleber. Although neither team connected from three-point range in the first half, the Brewers held a slight offensive edge with a 33.3 shooting percentage to Bard's 23.3 percent.
In the second half, the Raptors suffered a scoring drought in the final eight minutes as the Brewers closed out the game with a 17-0 run. Bard's Ruth Ashebir ended the run she scored with 00:47 left for the final score of 68-27. The Brewer bench scored 20 of its 28 points in the second half.
Bard senior forward Latiqua Williams, the program's all-time scoring and steal leader, reached two program milestones with her 11-rebound, 10-point double double. She claimed the program's rebounding crown with 870 career rebounds and reached the 1,000 career point plateau.
