Game One

In a game scheduled for seven innings, the Dutchmen prevailed by a score of 7-6 after nine innings. The Brewers rallied for three runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to even the score at six runs apiece. A scoreless seventh inning sent the first game into extra innings where Tyler Heck scored Union's go-ahead run in the top of the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Colin McKelligan.

Vassar freshman Zander Mrlik allowed six runs on seven hits to keep the Brewers within three runs at 6-3 after six innings. The game was knotted at 3-3 until the fifth inning when the Dutchmen tallied three runs on four hits, capped off by John Johnson's two-out, two-RBI triple.

In the bottom of the sixth, Dutchman starter Phil Kemp issued three walks to load the bases with two outs. Union's Kevin Dexter relieved Kemp and his botched pick-off attempt to first base allowed Vassar's Joe Castilla and Sal Costanzo to score from second and third base, respectively. Liam Lee advanced to third and scored on senior Murphy's game-tying RBI infield single.

Vassar's Scott Allen and Union's Dexter combined for scoreless innings of relief work in the seventh and eighth. Union struck in the top of the ninth as Heck worked his way around the bases with a steal and sacrifice bunt, scoring on the sacrifice fly from McKelligan to pull ahead 7-6.

The Brewers had an opportunity with the tying run at second base in the bottom of the ninth as Murphy's sacrifice bunt advanced Joe Bubar, in the game as a pinch runner for Mike Plude, to second base with one out and Mike Perrone at the plate. However, Bubar was picked off at second base and Perrone lined out to end the game.

Dexter (1-3) picked up the win for Union allowing one hit in 2.1 innings of relief work. Jeremy LeFebvre picked up his third save of the season.

Vassar's Allen (1-5) allowed four hits and one run in three innings of relief and takes the loss.

Vassar shortstop Perrone contributed two of Vassar's five hits going 2-5 with two stolen bases. Brewer centerfielder Murphy went 1-2 and led the Brewers with two RBIs.

Union designated hitter Heck went 2-4 and led Union with three runs. Dutchman shortstop Andy Brown went 2-4 and scored once. Leftfielder Johnson added a two-RBI triple.

Game Two

Although Vassar's starter Lawrence Flicker opened the second game with three innings of no-hit baseball, Vassar's offense came on too late as it lost a pitcher's duel 4-3 to Union.

Union's freshman starting pitcher Seth Roberts struck out five and allowed one run on four hits after 5.1 innings preserving Union's 2-1 lead. The Dutchmen added two runs off Flicker in the sixth inning with RBI singles from Paul Mene and Dexter, extending the Dutchmen lead to 4-1.

In the seventh and final inning of play, the Brewers tagged Union closer LeFebvre for two runs but could not steal the victory. Perrone opened the inning by reaching second base with a single followed by a steal. Glantz crushed an opposite-field RBI triple to warning track to tie Vassar's all-time triples mark and scored on Costanzo's grounder to shortstop to bring the tying run to the plate. With two outs, however, LeFebvre got a fly-out to end the game.

The Dutchmen took the first lead of the game with two runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Anthony Cassesse and an RBI double by Mene.

The Brewers responded with one run in the fourth off Lee's RBI single that scored Devon Luongo.

Roberts (2-4) earned the win for the Dutchmen. LeFebvre recorded his fourth save of the season, allowing two runs on two hits in the final inning.

Flicker (3-6) allowed four runs on nine hits in five innings and took the loss. Sophomore middle relief workhorse Race Bottini surrendered no hits in 1.2 innings of work.

Perrone led the Brewers at the dish and on the bases going 2-4 with two stolen bases. Glantz went 1-4 with his historic triple, one RBI, and one stolen base.

Mene led Union going 2-3 with two RBIs, and one run.
