POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 28, 2010) -- Although the Vassar College men's basketball team led Berkeley College 27-26 at intermission, Berkeley erupted for 42 second half points en route to a 68-49 win Sunday evening at the Athletics and Fitness Center.

The Knights sprinted to a 13 point lead at 46-33 behind a 15-2 run that began four minutes into the second half at 31-31- the game's fifth tie. The Brewers offensive woes of the second half led to the Knight's 12 points off eight turnovers. While Vassar competed on the glass with a slight 41-40 rebound advantage, Berkeley overwhelmed Vassar with its inside presence on offense as it produced 38 points in the paint to Vassar's 14.

The Brewers (1-3) face Marywood on the road this Wednesday, December 1 at 7:00 p.m. The Knights (4-3) play Mount Saint Vincent on the road on Sunday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m.

Down 9-16 with 11:12 remaining in the first half, freshman Sam Rappaport hit back to back threes and then drove inside for a left-handed layup to pull the Brewers within two at 17-19.

With 1:03 left in the half, the Brewers regained their first lead since 5-3 as sophomore Caleb McGraw hit three free throws after he was fouled on a three-point attempt to put the Brewers up 27-26.

Following the 15-2 attack mounted by Berkeley freshman forward Jose Stable, junior guard Isiah Didier, and sophomore guard Kaseem Williams, the nimble Knight defense maintained a double digit lead for much of the second half as it held Vassar to a 24.6 field goal percentage for the game. The Knights picked up nine blocks and 14 steals with four blocks from freshman center Elijah Craig and five steals from Williams. The Knights shot an efficient 44.4 percent from the floor and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc. Vassar held an advantage on the free throw line, hitting 16-17 for 94.1 percent.

Berkeley's Stable posted a couple game-highs with 22 points and 10 rebounds, on 10-16 shooting. Didier shot 3-5 from beyond the arc to add 14 points. Williams registered nine points and four assists.

Rappaport led the Brewers with a career-high 16 points, shooting 2-4 from three-point range. Freshman Lucas Wager led the Brewers with eight rebounds and four blocks. McGraw chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
