Emilie Kraft (Seattle, WA/Seattle Academy) notched a 3-0 win in the first round of the women's Holleran Cup at the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships, before falling to the No. 3 seed in the second round. Also representing Vassar squash at the CSA Individual Champions hosted by Williams College on Friday were seniors
Austin Minkowski (Baltimore, MD/Gilman) and
Eleanor Weiss (Millwood, VA/Holton-Arms).
Kraft picked up a 9-4, 9-0, 9-2 sweep over St. Lawrence's Meg North in the first round. Against No.3-ranked Madeline Lurio of Dartmouth in the second round, Kraft fell 3-0 (9-3, 9-2, 9-4). Kraft will play her consolation match on Saturday at 9:45 a.m.
Weiss dropped a 9-5, 9-4, 9-4 match to Hannah Laverty of Bates in the first round. In the consolation round, she dropped a 3-0 (9-6, 9-4, 9-2) match to Whitney Roller, also from Bates.
Minkowski faced Christian Henze from host Williams in the first round of the men's Molloy Cup, dropping a 9-2, 9-0, 9-1 decision. Minkowski played Colgate's Rob McCary in the consolation round on Saturday, dropping a 3-0 decision.
