Field Hockey Falls to The College at Florham, 2-1

MADISON, NJ (October 3, 2009) -- The College at Florham kept the Vassar field hockey team off the scoreboard until the last 45 seconds of the game, and used a goal in each half to register a 2-1 victory over the Brewers in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. 

Vassar, now 2-10, will jump back into Liberty League play next Friday and Saturday with games against the University of Rochester and William Smith. FDU improves to 4-8 and next faces Ramapo College on Friday, October 6. 

The Brewers scored their lone goal of the game at 69:15 when freshman midfielder Rebecca Smith scored her second goal of the season. Junior Jessica Lance led the Brewers with three shots. 

The Devils got on the board first when senior midfielder Jackie Gale scored an unassisted goal off a rebound 10:41 into the game. The Devils went ahead 2-0 in the 60th minutes when when junior midfielder Ellen Siracuse converted a penalty corner after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder Kelsey Kistle. 

Vassar junior goalie Rachel Horwitz made five saves for the Brewers. Freshman goalkeeper Meghan O'Neil made four saves for FDU.
