Kean Second Half Over Powers Men's Lacrosse, 16-5

UNION, NJ (March 5, 2008) -- Kean University broke away from a slim 4-2 halftime lead with 12 second half goals, en route to a 16-5 victory over Vassar's men's lacrosse team Wednesday night. The Brewers (0-2) will host Keuka College at Dietz Stadium in Kingston on Saturday, March 8, at 2:00 pm.

Kean sophomore attack Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.) recorded a career-high seven assists to go along with a goal to lead the Cougars.

Junior C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) added four goals in the win for Kean (2-2), while sophomore Cody Scandore (North Andover, Mass.) had a team-high two goals for the Brewers.

Both teams played an even first period with KU edging Vassar 3-2 in goals. After just one goal in the second period by Kean's Dennis Lukascko (Lincoln Park, N.J.) (pictured right), the Cougars went into halftime with a 4-2 lead.

Kean then broke the game wide open netting five uncontested goals in the third period for comfortable 9-2 lead.

Offensively the Cougars held a 33-20 edge in shots while converting on 3-of-4 extra-man opportunities.
