After Western Connecticut tied the score, Vassar took another three goal lead, courtesy of Cardillo, freshman attackman Sam Thypin-Bermeo (Princeton, NJ/Hun School), and freshman midfielder Ryan Hart (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West).
The up-and-down affair found the score knotted at 6 again until late in the third quarter when the Brewers tacked on two more goals, including a goal by senior attackman Tristan Jemiolo (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) with :02 left.
The fourth quarter saw more drama as Vassar got to double figures in the scoring column thanks to two more goals from Cardillo, his third and fourth. Western Connecticut evened the score and then went ahead on two man-up goals, until notching the game away with :03 seconds left.
