PURCHASE, NY (February 27, 2008) -- The Manhattanville men's lacrosse team registered a 7-3 win over Vassar this afternoon in the season opener for the Brewers. The Brewers had the game 2-1 following a goal by sophomore Nick Cardillo (Honeoye Falls, NY), but allowed the Valiants to increase the lead to 5-2 in the third period and couldn't recover.

Freshman Sam Seymour (Winchester, MA) scored the first of his two goals with 10:19 to play in the third period to make the score 4-2. Seymour's second goal came as the third period came to a close. Freshman Scott Mellynchuk (Sayville, NY) assisted on the first goal, senior Tristin Jemiolo (Poughkeepsie, NY) had Vassar's other two assists.

Sophomore Ed Pappo (Malvern, PA) made 13 saves in goal for the Brewers.

Manhattanville got two goals from Vinny Menzenski and Mike Strauss. Goalie Andre Predun made 14 saves.
