Women’s Lacrosse Opens 2026 Season On The Road At Drew

Brewers coming off 10-win season in 2025

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Lacrosse team is set to open the 2026 season Saturday afternoon with a visit to Drew. Opening draw with the Rangers is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with Live Stats and Video ($) available for those unable to attend.
 
Vassar At A Glance
  • The Brewers finished the 2025 season with a 10-6 overall record and a 5-5 mark in Liberty League play.
  • Vassar qualified for the Liberty League Championship for the second time in the previous three seasons in 2025, earning the seventh seed in the event.
  • The Brewers featured a trio of All-Conference selections a season ago as well as the 2025 Liberty League Rookie of the Year in Elizabeth Burgess (Columbus, OH).
  • Vassar returns a pair of All-Conference honorees with Tess Billings (Deerfield, IL) and Emilia DiLiberto (Allison Park, PA) each earning Second Team All-Conference selections a season ago.
  • The Brewers were selected seventh in the 2026 Liberty League Preseason Poll.
 
Attack
  • Amelia Poirier (Atherton, CA) paced the group a season ago with 28 goals and was tied for third on the squad with 34 points.
  • Burgess joined Poirer in a tie for third on the team with 34 points, totaling 27 goals and seven assists. Burgess was tabbed the Liberty League Rookie of the Week on four occasions in 2025.
  • Sigrid Fredlund (Seattle, WA) is back after appearing in 16 games and posting 27 points on the strength of 23 goals and four assists.
  • Also returning up front for the Brewers are Maeve Faigel (North Andover, MA), Karina Gyllenhaal (Beverly, MA) and Logan Skuro (Chappaqua, NY).
  • Faigel was limited to two games due to injury with Gyllenhaal totaling eight points in seven games played. Skuro appeared in six games as a rookie and posted two goals and three points.
  • Newcomers for the 2026 season at attack included First Years Payson Walker (Clarksburg, MD) and Olivia Palleschi (East Rockaway, NY).
 
Midfield
  • DiLiberto and Billings highlight the midfield for the Brewers with each coming off of All-Conference campaigns last season.
  • DiLiberto totaled 34 points for the Brewers and led the team in caused turnovers (16) and draw controls (74) while adding 24 groundballs.
  • DiLiberto begins the season ranked third all-time at Vassar with 146 draw controls.
  • Billings led the team with 31 goals in 2025 and ranked second on the squad with 39 points. Billings finished off a strong all-around junior season with seven groundballs, eight caused turnovers and 19 draw controls.
  • Siena Wong (Scotts Valley, CA) registered 17 goals and 26 points in 2025 with Megan Sweeney (Orlando, FL) totaling five points in 15 games played.
  • Sophomores Maddie Kaltsas (Minnetrista, MN) and Annabelle Tracy (Warwick, RI) combined for 13 goals and 27 points during their rookie seasons.
  • Sloan Shade (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and Emily Kallman (Jamestown, RI) also return in 2026 for the Brewers.
  • Shade appeared in seven games in 2025 while Kallman produced six points in 10 games played.
  • Phoebe Florance (Oakland, CA) totaled four points in 15 games played as a junior.
  • Catherine Peacock (Stockton, NJ) teamed with DiLiberto to dominate draw controls last season, winning 57. Peacock currently ranks seventh all-time at Vassar with 135 draws.
  • Newcomers to the midfield in 2026 include Ally Bettencourt (Peabody, MA) and Kate Connelly (Owings Mills, MD).
 
Defense
  • The Brewers return a talented core of defenders in 2026, including Olivia Del Tatto (Bayville, NY) who started 15 games as a sophomore, collecting 23 groundballs and forcing nine turnovers.
  • Amanda Hahn (LaGrange, IL) appeared in six games last season and posted seven groundballs and three caused turnovers.
  • Whitney Rowan (Bronxville, NY) returns after being limited to one game due to injury a season ago.
  • Norah Flinn (Cranston, RI) returns after seeing time in seven games as a sophomore, with Liz Lange (Upton, MA) back after scoring three times and adding seven groundballs and four caused turnovers as a First Year.
  • Looking to make an immediate impact to start the season on the backline are First Years Allison Ersin (Wynnewood, PA), Hope Fireison (Alexandria, VA), Sadie Kramer (Falmouth, ME) and Jax Pickering (South Seaville, NJ).
 
Goalie
  • The Brewers welcome back a pair of goalies from last year's roster in Maddie Busam (Summit, NJ) and Cassidy Schuchat (Hopewell Junction, NY).
  • Busam saw time in five contests a season ago and turned aside 15 shots in just over 92 minutes worth of work.
  • Schuchat appeared in seven games as a sophomore and made 18 saves in nearly 120 minutes of action.
  • Newcomer Jules Landicho (Mountainside, NJ) joins the goalie group for the 2026 season.
 
Head Coach
  • Judy Finerghty is on the sidelines for her 33rd season in 2026.
  • Finerghty has amassed 209 victories for the Brewers and is the program's all-time wins leader.
 
The Schedule
  • Vassar plays four of its first five games away from home with the lone home contest coming against Farmingdale State on February 25.
  • The Brewers begin conference play with two straight home games against RIT and Rochester on March 20 and 21.
  • Vassar also hosts league rivals Skidmore (4/8), Union (4/11) and Clarkson (4/25).
  • Road league tilts include trips to William Smith (3/28), RPI (4/3), Ithaca (4/4), St. Lawrence (4/18) and Bard (4/22).
  • The Liberty League Championship opens with the First Round on April 28 and continues with the semifinals and finals on May 1 and 3, respectively.
