Women's Track and Field Breaks Records at Wesleyan Invitational

Middletown, CT - First year Ruthie Weiss and sophomore Amanda Hanrahan both reset their own school records along with junior Haley Schoenegge breaking the indoor 1000 meters record as the Vassar College Women's Track and Field team excelled at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday.

High Jump
  • Weiss broke her own school record with a top mark of 1.55 meters to finish third overall.
  • Junior Abigail Sasson scored a new personal-best height of 1.50 meters to finish seventh overall.
5000 Meters
  • Senior Anika Mueller-Hickler ran away with a first place finish with a time of 19:15.98, finishing almost 50 seconds before the next finisher.
60 Meter Hurdles
  • Senior Jahmilia Dennis finished first overall in the prelims as she crossed the finish line in 9.17. Dennis would finish fourth overall in the finals with a mark of 9.40.
  • Senior Catherine Peacock tallied an 11th place finish with a time of 10.28 followed by sophomore Elana Pukel earning a 14th place finish in 10.31.
60 Meters
  • Sophomore Lainie D'Auria scored a third place finish in the prelims with a time of 8.17 to qualify for the finals. D'Auria then placed third in the finals with a mark of 8.17.
  • First year Maddie Seguin posted a 13th place finish with a mark of 8.46 followed by sophomore Mason Wilkins-Lanier in the top-20 in 8.55.
  • First year Chloe Mundheim also earned a top-20 finish with a time of 8.74.
Long Jump
  • Weiss finished seventh overall with a leap of 4.73 meters while senior Jamie Eu was ninth overall with a mark of 4.73 meters.
  • Pukel scored a 11th place finish with a mark of 4.57 meters and D'Auria was 13th overall with a leap of 4.50 meters.
Mile
  • Mueller-Hickler earned another first place finish with a new personal-best time of 5:16.91.
  • Sophomore Hadley Snell crossed the finish line in a career-best time of 5:30.27 to finish fifth overall.
  • First year Taylor Vogt recorded a seventh place finish in 5:41.31 followed by senior Nora Goldberg-Courtney in ninth position with a time of 5:46.93.
  • Senior Lily Shimpach garnered a top-20 finish with a new collegiate-best time of 6:09.83.
400 Meters
  • Senior Maddie Busam tallied a 10th place finish with a time of 1:07.69.
600 Meters
  • First year Perri Koo scored a fourth place finish with a time of 1:46.64 while first year Malaika Dechet-Wetzel finished seventh overall in 1:48.04.
Triple Jump
  • Dennis took home the top triple jump mark with a leap of 11.73 meters.
  • Sophomore Lianna Camille posted a career-best mark of 10.43 meters to finish third overall.
1000 Meters
  • Schoenegge broke the school record with a time of 2:59.31 for a first place finish followed by sophomore Elizabeth Lowe in second place in a collegiate-best 3:12.12.
  • Sophomore Sarah France finished fourth overall with a mark of 3:16.6.1 while first year Cate Feudtner was eighth in 3:27.67 and classmate Emerson Wyatt was 10th with a time of 3:31.04.
200 Meters
  • Camille crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 27.83.
  • Wilkins-Lanier finished in the top-20 with a time of 29.21 along with Mundheim finishing in the top-20 in 29.49.
  • Busam crossed the finish line in 30.15 for a top-25 finish.
Shot Put
  • Hanrahan finished 15th overall with a top toss of 9.60 meters while senior Sydney Petrie was 17th overall with a distance of 9.40 meters.
  • Sophomore Meara Morgan recorded a career-best toss of 9.33 meters for a top-20 finish along with first year Anna Johnson registering a top mark of 7.58 meters.
3000 Meters
  • Feudtner earned a third place finish with a time of 11:40.56.
4x800 Relay
  • The relay of Dechet-Wetzel, Feudtner, Vogt and Goldberg-Courtney took the top spot with a time of 10:07.30.
4x400 Relay
  • The quartet of Dechet-Wetzel, Wyatt, Lowe and Schoenegge earned a second place finish in 4:18.76.
  • The relay of Camille, Koo, Busam and Seguin posted an eighth place finish in 4:43.58.
Weight Throw
  • Hanrahan broke her own school record mark with a toss of 15.34 meters to earn the first place finish.
  • Morgan posted a career-best toss of 11.83 meters to finish 10th while Johnson finished in the top-20 at 10.84 meters.
  • First year Maddie Delaney posted a top throw of 8.01 meters.
Up Next
  • Vassar will return to action next weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University and the Bomber Invitational at Ithaca.
