Brewers Compete At Union In Final Dual Meet Of The Season

House wins two events for Vassar

Schenectady, NY – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team had a strong showing at Union on Saturday, suffering a tough 153-130 defeat to the Garnet Chargers in the final dual meet of the season. The Brewers won five events in the meet, including a pair of victories from sophomore Eli House (Oneonta, NY).
 
Saturday's defeat drops Vassar to 2-6 in dual meet competitions this season.
 
For The Brewers
  • House had a standout meet for the Brewers, taking the top spot in both the 50-yard freestyle (22.13) and the 100-yard freestyle (50.36).
  • Classmate Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) also had a big day for Vassar, swimming to a victory in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.63). Seiss concluded a strong meet with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.39) and a third-place showing in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.53).
  • Jack Powers (Amherst, NY) topped the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle on Saturday in a season best time of 10:10.82 and picked up a second-place finish for the Brewers in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.82).
  • First Year Elam Estella (Colorado Springs, CO) was victorious for Vassar in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.84) and earned a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (55.62).
  • First Year Kieran Lakhan (Kensington, MD) turned in a trio of runner-up finishes on Saturday, placing second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.70), 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.35) and 200-yard individual medley (2:05.65).
  • Daniel Wang (Carlisle, MA) finished as the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle (51.58) and added a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.05).
  • Senior Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.62) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.10) on Saturday.
  • John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) touched out second in the 100-yard backstroke (55.41) and added a third-place swim in the 100-yard freestyle (51.60).
  • Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV) in the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes and Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke each posted a pair of third-place swims.
  • Vuk Usina (Tallahassee, FL) and Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) also scored third-place swims in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, respectively.
  • Vassar's top 200-yard medley relay team of Gao, Lakhan, Deluca and House opened the meet with a second-place finish in a time of 1:39.26.
  • In the meet's final event, the team of Deluca, Gao, Wang and House posted a second-place swim of 1:30.25 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
What's Next
  • In its final tuneup before the Liberty League Championship, the Brewers will host the 2026 Vassar Sprint Invite on January 31.
