Men’s And Women’s Swimming And Diving Earn CSCAA Spring Scholar All-American Honors

Men post 3.80 team GPA, Women 3.88

Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams were both honored for academic excellence on Thursday as Spring Scholar All-American teams from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America. To be honored as a scholar All-American team, squads were required to post a team grade point average of 3.0.
 
The Vassar men's team improved on a fall 3.75 grade point average in the spring, registering a 3.80 mark. The Brewers held the highest team grade point average among Liberty League teams that were recognized and were tied for the third highest mark nationally. Vassar equaled Emory and Washington University with a 3.80 and trailed only Colorado College (3.90) and Pomona Pitzer (3.85).
 
The Women's team at Vassar also excelled in the classroom during the spring, improving from a 3.72 mark in the fall to an impressive 3.88 team grade point average in the spring. Not only did the Brewers lead all qualifying Liberty League institutions, Vassar equaled the highest team grade point average in the country, joining Colorado College with a 3.88 mark.
 
The Brewers are two of 763 teams from 432 institutions to be honored by the CSCAA for academic excellence during spring semester, totaling 18,459 student-athletes.
 
Samantha Barany, Executive Director of the CSCAA, praised the honorees, "These teams exemplify what it means to be true student-athletes. Their dedication to academic excellence, alongside their athletic commitments, is both impressive and inspiring. The CSCAA is proud to recognize and celebrate their hard work and achievement."
