Schoenegge Defends 1500 Meters Title and Earns First Team All-American Honors in the 5000; Dennis Collects First Outdoor Track and Field Second Team All-American Honor

Sophomore scores third career national title, Junior takes home second career All-American triple jump honors

Geneva, OH - Sophomore Haley Schoenegge defended her 1500 meters national title along with securing First Team All-American in the 5000 meters while junior Jahmilia Dennis earned Second Team All-American honors in the triple jump in her first NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships appearance on Saturday.

Schoenegge opened her day with back-to-back outdoor national crowns in the 1500 meters as she outpaced the next closest finisher by almost three seconds and tallied a 67 second final lap to pull away for her second national title. The sophomore continued her illustrious career with First Team All-American honors in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:36.19 to finish fifth overall on the track at SPIRE Institute. Schoenegge now holds three total national championships after securing the Mile national crown during the indoor season at Nazareth.

Dennis put together an impressive performance at her first NCAA Outdoor Championships as she placed 12th overall with a top leap of 11.86 meters to take home Second Team All-American honors and the second All-American honor of her career.

The duo's performance placed the Brewers tied for 17th out of 81 total scoring teams, which is the highest ever finish at the NCAA Championships in Vassar Track and Field history.
