Poughkeepsie, NY – The Vassar College Women's Squash team closed a busy day inside Kenyon Hall with three wins in four matches on Saturday. The Brewers scored a 5-4 win over Wellesley, a 7-2 triumph over Mount Holyoke and a 6-2 victory over Smith.
Saturday's results move Vassar to 4-3 overall on the season.
Vassar 5 – Wellesley 4
- The Brewers were victorious at the top four positions against the Blue and earned a victory at seven to pick up the first win of the day.
- Charlotte Tobin (Lakeville, CT) continued a standout start to the season with an 11-3, 11-4, 11-9 victory at the top spot.
- At two, First Year Hope Fireison (Alexandria, VA) earned a four-set victory by scores of 11-2, 9-11, 11-2, 11-0.
- Adriana Ordaya (Hartford, CT) was victorious at three for Vassar in an 11-5, 11-2, 11-1 decision.
- Sophomore Lexi Donshik (West Simsbury, CT) earned a hard fought 11-8, 11-9, 11-8 victory at four for the Brewers.
- Nang Eaint May (Troy, NY) rallied from an 0-2 hole to earn a 7-11, 10-12, 11-7, 12-10, 11-7 victory at seven.
Vassar 7 – Mount Holyoke 2
- Tobin moved to 2-0 on the day at the top spot with a hard fought 12-10, 11-6, 11-6 victory.
- Fireison also won her second match in as many outings on Saturday with an 11-9, 15-13, 9-11, 11-6 victory.
- At three Ordaya cruised to an 11-3, 11-3, 11-5 victory for the Brewers.
- Sophomore Iesha DeSilva (Dayton, MD) powered past the opponent at four in an 8-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-7 decision.
- Ariadni Markantonaki Kouletaki swept the opponent at five, easing to an 11-5, 11-3, 11-2 win.
- Nang Eaint May won for the second time at seven after scoring an 11-2, 11-2, 11-9 victory.
- Elta Bajrami (Pristina, Kosovo) was victorious for the Brewers at the eighth position after posting an 11-8, 12-10, 11-6 triumph.
Vassar 6 – Smith 2
- The Brewers won each of the top six positions against the Bears to post their third victory of the day.
- Tobin moved to 3-0 on Saturday after dispatching Smith's Nora Zhou by scores of 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 at the top position.
- Fireison also won for the third straight time on Saturday, easing to an 11-3, 11-0, 11-1 victory at two.
- Ordaya was victorious once against at three against the Bears, posting an 11-3, 11-5, 11-4 win.
- Donshik scored an 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 victory at four for the Brewers.
- DeSilva was a winner for the second time on Saturday following an 11-2, 11-7, 11-3 sweep against the Bears.
- Ariadni Markantonaki Kouletaki was for the second straight match against Smith, posting an 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 sweep at six.
Vassar 4 – Bard 5
- The Brewers dropped the last match of the day in a tight decision to Bard.
- Tobin closed a 4-0 day with an impressive 11-4, 11-1, 11-0 victory at one.
- Fireison also finished off a 4-0 day after cruising to an 11-2, 11-4, 11-8 sweep at the second slot.
- Ordaya went 4-for-4 on Saturday, posting an 11-5, 11-2, 11-1 win at the third position.
- Donshik won for third time in four decisions on Saturday with an 11-5, 11-6, 13-11 win at the fourth slot.
