Brewers Have Strong Showing At Brandeis In First Road Meet Of The Season

Lakhan, Powers each win two events

Waltham, MA – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team swam hard on Saturday in a tight 136-126 road loss at Brandeis. First Years Jack Powers (Amherst, NY) and Kieran Lakhan (Kensington, MD) each won two individual events for the Brewers.
 
Saturday's loss drops Vassar to 2-1 overall on the season, while the Judges open the 2025-26 campaign at 1-0.
 
For The Brewers
  • Lakhan had a big day for Vassar in the breaststroke events, winning both the 100-yard (1:02.43) and the 200-yard (2:19.73) events on Saturday.
  • Lakhan also posted a runner-up finish for Vassar in the 200-yard individual medley.
  • Powers won the distance freestyle events on Saturday, besting the field in the 1,000-yard (10:14.28) and 500-yard (5:04.57) races for the Brewers.
  • Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) was first to finish in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday (54.53).
  • Sophomore Mike Seaton (Hoboken, NJ) had a strong day for Vassar with a win in the 100-yard butterfly (52.87) and a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
  • Vassar also received third-place swims on Saturday from Logan Seiss (Downingtown, PA) in the 200-yard freestyle, Eli House (Oneonta, NY) in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle, John Gao (Ann Arbor, MI) in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley, Matthew Short (Scituate, MA) in the 200-yard butterfly, Noah Rich (Dover, NH) in the 200-yard backstroke, Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) in the 1,000-yard freestyle and Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Saturday was also a strong day for the Vassar relay teams with both the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle teams both earning runner-up finishes.
  • The medley team of Jauregui, Lakhan, Seaton and House opened the day with a time of 1:39.56, finishing just off the winning time of 1:39.28.
  • To close the meet, the freestyle quartet of Seaton, Deluca, House and Jauregui swam to a time of 3:19.33.
 
What's Next
  • The Brewers return to action on Halloween when they head to Montclair State.
