TROY, NY - The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners for Women's Track and Field for the week ending May 5th as Vassar College first year
Haley Schoenegge was named the league's Performer of the Week.
Schoenegge put together a historic meet at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships on Saturday as the first year was victorious in the 1500 meters and the 5000 meters while also setting meet record times in both events. Schoenegge became the Liberty League Outdoor champion in the 1500 meters as she crossed the finish line with the meet record time of 4:28.96 and defeated the next finisher by over three seconds followed by posting another meet record in the 5000-meters as the first year posted a time of 17:02.02 and beat the next finisher by over 11 seconds to earn her second victory of the day.
Schoenegge was named the meet's Most Outstanding Track Performer following her record breaking performance and helped lead Vassar to its highest team finish at the league championship meet with a fourth place finish. Schoenegge currently ranks fourth nationally and first in the Mideast Region in the 1500 meters while ranking sixth nationally and first in the Mideast Region in the 5000 meters.
Vassar is scheduled to head to the Swarthmore Last Chance meet on Monday, May 13th.
