Philadelphia, PA – The Vassar College Women's Squash team split its first two matches of the CSA Team Championship on Friday. The Brewers opened the day with a 9-0 loss to #26 Connecticut College before rallying to edge #30 Mount Holyoke 5-4 to finish of the first day of matches.
Friday's split moves Vassar to 9-12 overall on the season.
For The Brewers vs. Connecticut College
- Playing at one, senior Anna Lee (Malverne, PA) put together a strong performance against the Camels' Rachel Matamoros. Lee jumped out to a 1-0 lead with an 11-8 victory before Matamoros rallied to take the match with 11-3, 11-4, 11-5 victories.
- Fellow senior Sehar Dey-Kohli (Chicago, IL) also battled hard for the Brewers in a 3-1 loss to Isabel Schumacher at the third slot. After falling behind 2-0, Dey-Kohli pulled to within a set with an impressive 11-8 win. Schumacher came back with an 11-6 triumph in the fourth to take the contest.
- Adriana Ordaya (Hartford, CT) suffered at hard fought 7-11, 3-11, 8-11 defeat at two for the Brewers.
- Sophia Choudhri (Waycross, GA) was in action at five for the Brewers against the Camels and battled hard in a 3-11, 8-11, 3-11 loss to Miranda Medina.
For The Brewers vs. Mount Holyoke
- The Brewers won the top four positions against Mount Holyoke, including a 13-11, 11-3, 11-7 triumph from Lee at the top slot.
- Ordaya picked up a victory for Vassar at two, sweeping Mount Holyoke's Ku Paw by scores of 11-8, 11-2, 11-3.
- Dey-Kohli outlasted the Lyons' Tina Mei in four frames. After taking the first two sets by scores of 11-4 and 11-6, Dey-Kohli rebounded from an 11-8 loss in the third to secure the victory with a hard fought 15-13 victory in the fourth.
- Sarah Boucher-Rowe (London, UK) earned a 3-1 win for the Brewers at four. After splitting the first two frames, Boucher-Rowe outlasted Kyla Cole 18-16 in the third and put the match away with an 11-8 victory in the fourth.
- Senior Kelsey O'Connell (Chapel Hill, NC) dispatched Mount Holyoke's Lara Gao at six, cruising to an 11-5, 11-8, 11-6 victory for the Brewers.

- Vassar closes out the tournament with a contest against Haverford on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
