Women's Track and Field Excels in Indoor Season Opener at West Point; Schoenegge Shatters 3000 Meters Indoor School Record at Boston University

Sophomore breaks her own school record by over 15 seconds

West Point, NY - Sophomore Haley Schoenegge shattered her own school record time in the 3000-meters at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University while the Vassar College Women's Track and Field team opened the 2024-25 indoor season at the West Point Crowell Open with numerous personal-best marks and first year Amanda Hanrahan set the new indoor school record in the weight throw.

3000 Meters (Boston University)
  • Schoenegge shattered her own school record in the 3000-meters as the sophomore finished 80th overall and was the top Division III finisher out of a loaded Division I field. Schoenegge crossed the finish line with a time of 9:38.73 to break her own record by 15 seconds.
Pentathlon
  • Senior Faye Stevens finished second overall with 2848 points as she scored a first place finish in the long jump at 4.95 meters. Stevens added second place finishes in the 800 meters (2:35.36) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.81). The senior closed the day with a third place finish in the high jump at 1.40 meters and a fourth place finish in the shot put at a career-best 8.27 meters.
  • First year Elana Pukel secured a fifth place finish with 2461 points with third place finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (9.99) amd 800-meters (2:54.14). Pukel added two fifth place finishes in the shot put with a toss of 8.14 meters and the long jump with a leap of 4.53 meters. The first year added a sixth place finish in the high jump at the 1.37 meter mark.
  • Junior Abbe Colgan finished with a career-best 1568 points as she finished fourth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:55.52. Colgan added a personal-best time of 12.21 in the 60-meter hurdles along with a toss of 7.33 meters in the shot put and a personal-best mark of 1.34 meters in the high jump.
Shot Put
  • Hanrahan recorded an eighth place finish in the first meet of her career with a toss of 9.57 meters.
  • Senior Soleil Yuong finished 10th overall with a mark of 8.77 meters along with first year Meara Morgan registering a throw of 7.86 meters.
Weight Throw
  • Hanrahan posted a indoor school record weight throw of 11.08 meters.
  • Young registered a personal-best toss of 9.97 meters while Morgan tallied a mark of 8.77 meters
Mile
  • Sophomore Adelaide Nyhan finished second overall with a career-best time of 5:11.25 as the top Division III finisher followed by sophomore Norah Reade in fourth in 5:14.41.
  • Senior Sophia Henderson crossed the line fifth with a career-best time of 5:16.22 while first year Lizzie Lowe and classmate Sarah France finished back-to-back with a time of 5:19.00 and 5:19.39, respectively.
High Jump Long Jump
  • First year Lainie D'Auria opened her collegiate career with a leap of 4.73 meters.
400 Meters
  • First year Lianna Camille finished fourth in her collegiate debut with a time of 1:03.62 followed by first year Caroline Thelen finishing sixth in 1:04.80.
  • Sophomore Maya Carey scored an eighth place finish with a time of 1:05.90.
60 Meter Hurdles
  • Junior Jahmilia Dennis scored a ninth place finish with a time of 9.14 along with Sasson crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 10.71.
60 Meters
  • D'Auria finished fifth in the second heat and 14th overall with a time of 8.16 while senior Lily Falkowski posted the top time in the third hear with a time of 8.52.
  • First year Mason Wilkins-Lanier finished behind Falkowski in 8.66 along with senior Kali Ringler posting a time of 8.69 and first year Sophia Moreau crossed the finish line in 9.37.
1000 Meters
  • Henderson raced to a third place finish with a time of 3:06.91.
200 Meters
  • Thelen earned a 12th place finish in 27.93 followed shortly by D'Auria in 13th with a time of 28.22.
  • Camielle crossed the finish line in 15th position with a time of 28.39 and Ringler posted an 18th place finish in 28.86.
  • First year Skylar Spiro raced to a time of 29.34 and Falkowski rounded out the Vassar finishers with a time of 29.76.
3000 Meters
  • Nyhan scored a first place finish with a personal-best time of 10:27.96 followed by Reade in fifth place with a career-best time of 10:36.65.
  • Sophomore Cayley Swaim crossed the finish line in sixth place in a career-best time of 10:41.44 with sophomore Acadia Helfand finishing seventh in a personal-best 10:44.36.
  • Junior Anika Mueller-Hickler scored a ninth place finish in 10:48.12 followed by first year Sophia Marchioli in 10th in 10:51.33 and France in 11th in 10:55.43.
  • Lowe secured a 13th place finish with a time of 11:07.35 while senior Sophie Farr posted a time of 11:09.05 and first year Hadley Snell crossed the line in 11:20.60.
Triple Jump
  • Dennis finished second, only behind a Division I competitor, with a jump of 11.17 meters.
4x400 Relay
  • The relay of Thelen, Carey, Camille and Stevens posted a fourth place finish with a time of 4:24.43.
Up Next
  • The Brewers will be off until February 1-2 when VC will travel to the Bomber Invite at Ithaca College.
