Cross Country Heads to Terre Haute for NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships

Women's team qualifies for second straight season, S. Miller makes first appearance at the National meet

Indianapolis, IN — The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee announced the participants for the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Sunday as the Vassar College Women's Cross Country team earned a bid for the second straight season while sophomore Sean Miller earned an at-large bid to represent the Men's Cross Country squad.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions held last weekend. Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in each championship.  The top seven-person team automatically qualified from each of the 10 regions.  Twenty-two additional teams were selected at-large. Seventy individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, were selected to participate in each championship.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology is hosting the championships on Saturday at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the men's race at noon Eastern.

The women's team earned its second straight at-large bid into the championships following the Brewers winning its second consecutive Liberty League title behind the efforts of seven All-League selections in sophomore Haley Schoenegge, sophomore Adelaide Nyhan, senior Anna Kaigle, sophomore Norah Reade, sophomore Cayley Swaim, senior Noni Pattington and sophomore Acadia Helfand. Schoenegge led the way as the individual champion and broke the Ronald C. Hoffman course record and the Liberty League Championship record.

Vassar clinched its berth into the National Championship meet with a fourth place finish, missing the second place spot by just one point, at the Mideast Regional meet as Schoeneggge, Nyhan, Kaigle and Reade all earned USTFCCCA All-Region honorees with top-30 finishes. The Brewers head to Terre Haute ranked #20 nationally in the most recent USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.

Miller makes his first appearance at the Championship meet after racing to a 16th place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regionals in a career-best 8K time of 25:01.4 and earned USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region honors. Miller also finished 16th overall at the Liberty League Championship to collect All-Liberty League Honorable Mention accolades.

A live web stream of the championships will occur on NCAA.com beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern time until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
