Nyhan Scores First Place Finish as #16 Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at Vassar Season Starter

Junior posts career-best 3K time to finish first overall

Poughkeepsie, NY - Junior Adelaide Nyhan raced to a first place finish out of 62 total finishers as the #16 Vassar College Women's Cross Country team finished just a point behind #4 NYU to place second out of six teams at the 3K Vassar Season Starter at the Vassar Farm.

VASSAR'S FINISHERS
  • Nyhan bolted out to the front of the pack early and took home the first place title with a new personal best 3K time of 10:56.7.
  • Junior Cayley Swaim finished fourth overall with a time of 11:05.4 followed by senior Anika Mueller-Hickler in fifth position with a mark of 11:05.6.
  • Junior Acadia Helfand crossed the finish line in 10th place with a time of 11:13.9, just ahead of sophomore Sarah France in 11th in 11:18.3.
  • First year Sophie Cosgrove earned a 13th place finish in her collegiate debut with a time of 11:19.6 along with sophomore Chloe Bibula scoring a 18th place finish in a career-best 3K time of 11:26.8.
  • Vassar scored three straight finishers from 19th to 21st position as sophomore Elizabeth Lowe finished 19th in a personal-best 11:28.7, senior Nora Goldberg-Courtney in 20th in a career-best 11:28.7 and sophomore Hadley Snell in 21st in a personal-best 11:31.2.
  • First years Cate Feudtner and Malaika Dechet-Wetzel posted top-26 finishes in their debuts as Feudtner was 25th in 11:43.1 followed by Dechet-Wetzel in 26th in 11:43.9.
  • First year Taylor Vogt posted a 32nd place finish to open her collegiate career in 12:08.0 followed by sophomore Sophia Marchioli in 35th in 12:13.9 and senior Max Sandrew in 36th in 12:20.2.
  • Seniors Isabelle Borgstedt and Lily Shimpach rounded out the Vassar finishers in the top-45 with Borgstedt finishing in 13:01.5 and Shimpach finishing with a time of 13:18.2.
