Vassar Takes On Trinity (CT) In First Meet Of 2024

Kurosawa wins two events for the Brewers

North Hadley, MA – The Vassar College Men's Swimming and Diving team was in action for the first time in 2024 Monday afternoon, dropping a dual meet with Trinity (CT) by a score of 183-100. Three Brewers won individual events on Monday, led by a pair of victories from Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV).

Monday's dual meet loss drops Vassar to 2-5 overall on the season.

For The Brewers

Kurosawa had a big day for the Brewers on Monday, taking the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.51) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.81.). Kurosawa closed out the day with a runner-up finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.96).
First Year Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) earned a victory for Vassar in the 100-yard backstroke (55.03). Jauregui added a second place showing for the Brewers in the 100-yard butterfly (53.60).
Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) scored a victory for Vassar on Monday in the 50-yard freestyle (22.55).
Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) turned in a strong swim for the Brewers in the 1,000-yard freestyle, posting a season-best time of 11:15.95 which was good for second place. Furman added a fourth-place swim in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:34.35.
Han Ryu (Chantilly, VA) scored a runner-up finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.04) and added a third place showing in the 100-yard butterfly (56.11).
Rory Stumpf (Potomac, MD) scored a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.78).
James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) took third on Monday in both the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.11) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:07.50).
Tyler Tsukuda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) took third on Monday in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.71) and fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:15.37).
Lukas Johnson (Minneapolis, MN) scored a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.74) before swimming to a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:18.19).
Jack Kahan (Lewiston, ME) posted a third-place finish in one-meter diving with a season-best score of 91.45.
Vassar opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with the team of Jauregui, Kurosawa, Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) and Ehrenfeld swimming a time of 1:39.30.
The Brewers closed the day placing second in 400-yard freestyle relay. Johnson, Ryu, Jauregui and Ehrenfeld closed out the day with a time of 3:27.46.

Vassar returns home to Kresge Pool on Friday, January 19 when it hosts Division II Pace.
