POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) has announced its Division III Academic All-District Teams in the At-Large and Vassar College Men's Volleyball seniors
Andrew Kim and
Gavin van Beveren were recognized. The seniors were named for the first time in their careers and will both advance to the national ballot for the chance to earn Academic All-America honors.
A Mathematics major with a 3.59 GPA, Kim put together an incredible senior campaign as he finished the season in the top 10 nationally in hitting percentage, kills per set and points per set. He helped lead the Brewers to their fourth trip in school history to the National Semifinals and also helped Vassar to its first-ever #1 ranking in the AVCA/NVA National Coaches Poll. Kim was named the AVCA Division III National Player of the Week twice this season and was also tabbed the UVC Player of the Week five times this season. Kim added the AVCA National Player of the Year recognition to his 2023 list of accolades that includes UVC Player of the Year and AVCA North Region Player of the Year. He also earned his third AVCA All-America honor with a First Team selection this year, as he was a Second Team pick last year and a First Team pick in 2021.
A Psychological Science major with a 3.80 GPA, van Beveren put together a program-defining career for the men's volleyball team. Gavin shattered the program record in hitting percentage this season at .524 and was the top hitter nationally in percentage. He also finished second nationally in blocks per set and helped lead Vassar to a program record 25 straight victories along with a trip to the National Semifinals. Gavin finishes his career as a Three-Time All-American, Four Time All-UVC selection, Four Time North All-Region selection and was named the AVCA North Region Newcomer of the Year and the UVC Rookie of the Year.
The Brewers finished the season at 26-2 overall with a trip to the NCAA National Semifinals and were champions of the UVC Regular Season and Tournament.
