PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Vassar College women's squash team opened action at the 2023 College Squash Association (CSA) Team National Championships on Friday, taking on Bates College in the opening round of the Epps Cup. The Brewers (6-14) shouldered a 9-0 loss to the Bobcats.
Vassar moves on to Saturday's action, facing the loser of the match between Haverford and Mount Holyoke College at 5:30pm on courts 2, 5 and 6 at the University of Pennsylvania.
The Bobcats saw Dainalee Velez record an 11-1, 11-0, 11-1 victory from seven against rookie
Chloe Vaiman, while from five, Cordelia Dotson was an 11-1, 11-0, 11-4 winner versus Brewers freshman
Mariya Novosad.
Eight saw Abigail Zerbey notch an 11-1, 11-0, 11-2 win against VC rookie
Charlotte Banigan-White, while from four, Grace Flaherty won 11-1, 11-4, 11-5 against Vassar junior captain
Olivia Berkson.
From three, Erika Maria Parker-Schmidt earned the 11-1, 11-3, 11-1 win against Brewers freshman
Adriana Ordaya to clinch the match victory, while at the top of the ladder, Andrea Martagon was an 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 winner over Vassar sophomore
Emma Adams.
At two, Aasya Patel notched an 11-2, 11-0, 11-4 win against VC junior
Sehar Dey-Kohli, while action concluded at six as Victoria Haghighi defeated sophomore
Sophia Choudhri, 11-2, 11-3, 11-4. The Bobcats earned the default victory from nine.
