Vassar Swims Against Montclair State

Cerone sweeps diving events

Montclair, NJ – The Vassar College Men's Swimming team returned to action on Friday, traveling to Montclair State and battling hard in a 166-107 non-conference loss to the Red Hawks. The Brewers earned first place points in six events with Jacob Cerone (Ne Windsor, NY) sweeping the diving sessions.

Friday's loss drops Vassar to 1-2 overall through the first three competitions of the season.

For The Brewers

Diving the 1-meter event twice because Montclair State doesn't have a three-meter board, Cerone won both sessions of the 1-meter competition, with higher degree of difficulty dives, posting a score of 136.20 in the first set of dives and rounding out the night with a mark of 179.80 in the second set of dives.
Jack Kahan (Lewiston, ME) was in action in the second set of dives off the 1-meter board, totaling a score of 93.50.
Ricky Kurosawa (Las Vegas, NV) continued the strong start to his Vassar career with a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.23) while adding a third-place swim in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.19).
First Year Lucas Jauregui (Barrington, RI) also had a strong night for Vassar, taking the top spot in the 100-yard backstroke in a season best time (54.48) before swimming to a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (55.45).
Robin Auwaerter (Syracuse, NY) claimed first-place points on Friday in the 200-yard individual medley, swimming a season best time of 2:13.81.
Hayden Ehrenfeld (Long Beach, CA) scored a pair of second place finishes for the Brewers, claiming the runner-up spot in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyles in times of 22.10 and 50.32 seconds, respectively. Ehrenfeld's 50-yard time marked a second best.
Lukas Johnson (Minneapolis, MN) came home third in a pair of events on Friday, swimming a time of 1:55.10 in the 200-yard freestyle, a season best finish, and a time of 5:16.96 in the 500-yard freestyle.
Tyler Tsukuda (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) swam to a third-place finish in the 200-ard butterfly in a time of 2:12.84.
Han Ryu (Chantilly, VA) scored a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a season best time of 22.35 seconds.
James Hatch (Los Altos, CA) took third in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:08.57.
Daniel Furman (Secaucus, NJ) debuted in the 1,000-yard freestyle on Friday and posted a season best time of 11:23.62.
Vassar opened the evening with the 'A' relay team of Jauregui, Kurosawa, Sam Deluca (Mifflinburg, PA) and Ehrenfeld posting a time of 1:40.36.
In the final event of the night, the 'A' 400-yard freestyle squad of Ehrenfeld, Deluca, Johnson and Ryu came-from behind to swim the fastest time of the event in 3:21.17.

Vassar continues a three-meet road swing on November 4 when it travels to Skidmore.
