HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Vassar College women's squash team returned to action on Saturday, traveling to Haverford College for a pair of matches. The Brewers shouldered a 7-0 loss to Georgetown University, before falling to the host Fords by a 9-0 margin. Vassar is now 4-9 on the season.
In the opener against the Hoyas, Georgetown got the victory from the top of the ladder as Katie Hennessy posted an 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 win over sophomore
Emma Adams. Two saw Sydney Bramen earn an 11-1, 11-3, 11-2 win against rookie
Adriana Ordaya, while from three, Nina Thomas was an 11-5, 11-3, 11-2 winner over junior captain
Olivia Berkson. At four, Eena Yu defeated rookie
Mariya Novosad, 11-2, 11-0, 11-1, while five was an 11-0, 11-2, 11-1 win for Aalia Husain against sophomore
Sophia Choudhri.
From six, Nine Flinn was an 11-1, 11-2, 11-3 winner over rookie
Chloe Vaiman, while seven saw Isha Rao with an 11-1, 11-1, 11-3 win against rookie
Charlotte Banigan-White.
Against the Fords, Ariana Solecki was the winner at the top with an 11-6, 11-3, 11-5 win over Adams. Two saw Catherine Fortin with an 11-2, 11-8, 11-7 win over Ordaya, while three was an 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 win for Caroline Smith over Berkson. Four saw Amelia Stevens post an 11-6, 11-4, 11-6 win over Novosad, while five had Emilia Zegers with an 11-5, 11-3, 11-4 win against Choudhri. From six, Aman Hamdard was an 11-6, 11-5, 11-0 winner over Vaiman, while Amy Saxon posted a 13-11, 11-3, 11-4 win over Banigan-White at seven.
Vassar returns to the court next weekend when it travels to St. Lawrence University to compete in the 2023 Liberty League Round Robin Championship. Action begins on Friday and runs through Sunday.
