SARATOGA, NY – It was a solid day on the water for the Vassar women's and men's rowing teams, who competed on Fish Creek in the 2022 New York State Championships on Saturday. The Brewers had a number of boats in the water, producing solid efforts throughout the day.
In the women's varsity four, the Brewers finished second in their heat with a time of 8:42.024, that mark was second to Marist – which won with a mark of 8:27.011. The Brewers advanced into the finals in the event, placing sixth overall in 8:29.297. Comprising the women's four boat was rookie

Next up was the women's novice eight, which finished fifth overall in a tough heat. The Brewers posted a time of 8:38.916, which was behind Division I Army and Iona, Ithaca and Rochester. Vassar's time bested Division I Binghamton's boat which had a mark of 9:16.066. Sophomore coxswain

The men's varsity eight was next as the Brewers took sixth overall in 6:59.279. Comprising the boat was sophomore coxswain
Jean Fassler, sophomores Nick Winkler, Rafi Ettinger-Finley and Jakob Huddleston, junior Lucas Angles, rookie Ben Vinson, sophomore Gage Karlin, junior Joshua Hernandez and sophomore Alex Roth.
The final action of the day came in the men's novice four as the Brewers won their heat in a time of 8:14.002. Huddleston, junior Bela Arwen, sophomore Matthew Peeples, rookie Willem Doherty and Fassler (coxswain), comprised the novice four.
Both squads return to action on May 8 in the regular season finale as they head to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., to compete in the National Intercollegiate Rowing Championships.
