FAIRFIELD, CT - The Vassar College Women's Fencing team returned to action on Sunday afternoon at the Tradition Invite hosted by Sacred Heart University. Junior
Hunter Grogan earned four victories at foil for the Brewers.
Vassar opened the day with a 2-25 loss to Harvard with freshman
Abigail Geiger winning once at sabre and sophomore
Olivia Barnes adding a victory at epee. Round two ended with Sacred Heart defeating the Brewers 9-18 as Mark earned the lone victory at sabre as Grogan went 3-0 at foil and senior
Sophie Jones earned a win at foil. Sophomore
Danielle Golden earned two wins at epee along with classmate
Addy Xie adding one win.
Vassar fell to NYU in round four 6-21 as sophomore
Naomi Hirsch, Golden and Xie each won once in epee along with two victories by Mark at sabre, added with one win by Geiger. After falling to Princeton in the fifth round, Vassar suffered a 2-25 defeat to Penn State in round six as Grogan picked up a win at foil along with Xie earning a victory at epee. In the final round against Temple, Barnes earned the two victories at epee as the Brewers dropped a 2-25 decision.
The Brewers will return to action following the winter break at the Cleveland State Invite on January 15.
