POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Vassar men's squash team was back in action on Saturday, hosting Connecticut College and Haverford College at the Kenyon Squash Courts. The Brewers opened with a tough 9-0 loss to the Camels. The second match of the day for VC saw the Brewers fall, 7-2 to the Fords.
Saturday's action opened against Conn College as the Camels got on the board with Timothy First posting an 11-3, 11-5, 11-4 win over Vassar rookie
Wyatt Kern at nine. From the second spot, Conn's Tyler Maguire posted an 11-6, 11-5, 11-4 win against senior captain
Sameer Mustafa, while at six, Alexander Lorenzo-Cruz gave the Camels a 3-0 lead with a hard-fought 12-10, 11-13, 11-7, 11-9 win over Vassar sophomore
Jarid Haslinger.
Next up was the eight's as Juan Hurtado bested Vassar senior
Josh Finkelstein by a 9-11, 11-4, 11-2, 11-6 margin for the 4-0 advantage. The Camels sealed the match decision from five as Noah Fish notched an 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 victory against VC rookie
Luke Chen.
The Camels added to their win column from the top of the ladder as Samuel Lovejoy recorded an 11-6, 12-10, 11-7 victory over junior captain
Rithik Jalali. Seven saw Peter Russell notch an 11-4, 11-7, 12-10 win over Vassar rookie
Kyle Benson, while Henry Pelletier posted an 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 win over Brewers freshman

Conn College concluded the match at four as Ryan Mach posted a 9-11, 11-8, 11-9, 12-10 victory over VC sophomore

In the second match, Jalali rebounded from the top of the ladder, gutting out a hard-earned 14-16, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-6 victory over Noah Tunis. The Brewers also saw Haslinger the victor from six with a 4-11, 11-5, 11-6, 12-10 win against John Collins. Haverford picked up the win at two as Quinton Ayres Crawford defeated Mustafa by an 11-5, 11-4, 11-6 margin. From three, Aaryaman Jaising had an 11-1, 11-4, 11-2 victory against Lalji, while four saw Benjamin Schlitz battle past Looby for a 7-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, 11-2 victory. Kai Schinaman earned an 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8 win against Chen from five, while Garret Fantini edged Benson at seven, 7-11, 11-1, 11-1, 11-3.
From eight, Matthew Sullivan was an 11-4, 4-11, 13-11, 11-5 winner over Finkelstein, while the nine saw Alikhan Nurkhaidarov post an 11-6, 11-4, 11-3 win over Vassar's Kern.
Vassar is back in action on Friday, December 2nd when it hosts Middlebury College at 6pm on the Kenyon Squash Courts.
