POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar women's squash team shouldered its first loss of the 2021-22 campaign on Sunday, falling 9-0 to Liberty League-rival William Smith at Kenyon Courts. The win moves the #21 Herons to 3-1, while the #29 Brewers move to 4-1 overall.
The Herons saw Marce Martinez post an 11-6, 11-4, 11-3 win from the top of the ladder, besting Vassar senior captain

Anna Lee shoulder an 11-0, 11-6, 11-7 defeat at the hands of William Smith's Laila Selim, while at three, senior
Nicole Pihlstrom suffered an 11-5, 11-5, 13-11 loss to Diya Moolani despite a tough fight in the third frame.
Four saw sophomore
Claire Weiss post an outstanding effort against Shante Frank. Facing a 2-0 deficit after falling 11-7, 11-7 in the first two games, Weiss battled back for the 11-8 win to force a fourth game. In that effort, she took it right to the wire, but ultimately fell 11-9.
Five saw sophomore
Olivia Berkson take on Lark Ervasti, shouldering a tough 11-2, 11-0, 11-2 defeat, while from six, William Smith's Jada Smith-Padmore bested Vassar senior
Darina Kulaha, 11-0, 11-1, 11-0. Seven saw Herons' Jo Pacheco post an 11-2, 11-2, 11-6 win over Brewers senior
Melina Stavropoulos, while at eight, Vassar rookie
Sophia Choudhri fell to Molly Wachter, 11-1, 11-1, 11-0.
Vassar returns to action next Saturday when it competes at the Bard College Round Robin. The Brewers are next at home on December 4, hosting Connecticut College (11am) and Haverford College (3pm) at Kenyon Courts.
