SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Vassar women's squash team opened with a 9-0 sweep over Wellesley, but fell 9-0 to Mount Holyoke in the Seven Sisters Championship match.
Sydney Nemphos (Baltimore, MD) and
Claire Coss (Penn Valley, PA) were named to the All-Tournament team.
Against Wellesley, the Brewers swept the one to eight positions. No. 1 Nemphos (Baltimore, MD) won by marks of 11-4, 11-5 and 11-5, while No. 2 Coss (Penn Valley, PA) had the 3-0 sweep with the exact same scores. At the third,
Julia Pollak (San Francisco, CA) defeated Lumi Kinjo at 11-4, 11-8 and 11-2.
Amanda Watson (Falmoth, ME) cruised past Kaycie Wang 11-1, 11-4 and 11-1.

Alexa Elias (New York, NY) had a closer contest, but still won 3-0. She defeated Jacquelyn Cai 11-5, 11-6 and 11-8.
Allegra von Hirschberg tallied a sweep against Donna Gan, and
Nicole Pihlstrom (Fort Collins, CO) won her third match in a row with a sweep of Isabela Valencia. Natlia Lanzoni (Cambridge, MA) won 3-0 at the eighth position.
Lily Hammer (Wethersfield, CT) went four sets against Cathy Yang, dropping the first 11-9. She rallied to win the next three 11-6, 11-7 and 14-12.
The Brewers faced a challenge in the championship round against host Mount Holyoke. The Lyons swept Vassar in all 9-0 positions. Nemphos fell 11-2, 11-5 and 11-1 to Mihiliya Arachchi and Coss dropped 11-4, 11-1 and 11-4 to Nadindhi Udangawa. Pollak fought hard with a close 11-8 first-set loss, but fell 11-6 in the next two sets.
This marks the third-consecutive season that Mount Holyoke has won the Seven Sisters Championships. Vassar finishes as the runner-up for the second-straight year.
The Brewers travel to Hartford, CT next for the CSA nationals on Feb. 23-24.
