Vassar Falls To Hobart And Rochester In Liberty League Championships

CANTON, N.Y. – The Brewers faced a challenging Sunday to close out the second day of the Liberty League Championships. Vassar men's squash dropped two 9-0 decisions to No. 4 Rochester and No. 27 Hobart.

In the first contest, the Statesmen swept the Brewers in every position. No. 1 Viraj Nadkarni (Mumbai, India) fell to Mohamed Abdelhafez, while senior No. 2 Caden Gruber (Costa Mesa, CA) tested his opponent but was knocked off by Quinn Udy 11-8, 11-5 and 11-1. The depth was a little too much for Vassar in the end, as Hobart rolled to the win.

The highly-ranked Rochester squad wrapped up its undefeated weekend with a sweep of the Brewers. No 7 Travers Parson-Grayson (Newport, VT) played a solid match against Cesar Segundo Corona, but fell 11-7, 11-6 and 12-10.

Rochester was crowned as the Liberty League champions, and now ties St. Lawrence in conference crowns with seven. The Saints finished second at 3-1 and Hobart was 2-2 on the weekend. Bard  was 1-3 to take fourth in the tournament.
