HARTFORD, Conn. – Following a 7-2 win over Bowdoin in the final round, the Vassar women's squash team is the CSA Chaffee Cup Division "E" Champion. This is the first CSA championship title the Brewers won since the Howe Cup Division "C" title in 2008.
Four of the nine matches went four or more sets, with the Brewers sweeping the sixth to eighth positions. The Polar Bears' Clio Bersani claimed the 3-0 first position win over
Sydney Nemphos (Baltimore, MD) and
Claire Coss (Penn Valley) tallied the close 3-2 win at the second. Coss dropped the first set 11-7 to Ntasha Belsky, but won the second 12-10. After falling 11-8 in the third, she won the final sets 11-5 and 11-9. No. 3
Julia Pollak bounced back after losing 11-8 in the first set to outscore Melissa Horan 11-8, 11-5 and 11-5 down the stretch.

Amanda Watson (Falmouth, ME) edged out Lucy Noel in the next three sets with marks of 11-9, 11-8 and 11-8. Bowdoin's Hannah Reiff picked up the 3-0 victory against
Alexa Elias (New York, NY), but Vassar went 3-0 in the next three spots.
Allegra von Hirschberg (Mbabane, Swaziland) rolled 11-5, 11-4 and 11-3 at the sixth, while
Isabel Bronson (Monterey, MA) went 11-3, 11-7 and 11-5 at the seventh. No. 8
Nicole Pihlstrom (Fort Collins, CO) had an easy 11-2, 11-2 and 11-1 victory. No. 9
Natalia Lanzoni (Cambridge, MA) closed the season with a 3-1 win against Catherine Adams. Â Â
