BRUNSWICK & LEWISTON, ME - The Vassar College women's squash team was in action in Maine this weekend, traveling to Bowdoin College and Bates College on Saturday. The Brewers shouldered a 6-3 loss to the Polar Bears, before falling to the Bobcats, 9-0. On the season, VC now owns a 4-2 overall mark.
Against Bowdoin, the Brewers saw success at the bottom of the ladder as senior
Samantha Henderson bested Catherine Adams at seven by a 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-2) margin. At eight, freshman
Odie Berkson picked up a 3-0 win (11-3, 11-3, 11-3) over her own, defeating Tessa Frank, while at nine, sophomore
Lucie Bisbee bested Gretchen Clauss, 3-0 (11-6, 11-7, 11-5).
There were several other matches that were hard-fought for Vassar, including at four as senior
Alessandra Pilkington shouldered a 3-1 loss (5-11, 11-9, 5-11, 8-11) to Sophie Barber, while at six, junior
Isabel Bronson fell 3-0 (1-11, 9-11, 8-11) against Callie Burkhart.
In the match against Bates, it was a tough battle across the board as the Bobcats powered their way to 3-0 victories from the top to the bottom of the ladder. Among the top matches came at three, as senior
Sydney Nemphos fought against Ella Lungstrum, shouldering a tough 3-0 (11-6, 11-5, 11-7) defeat.
Vassar returns to the court on Sunday when it travels to Colby College to conclude their Maine trip with an 11am match.
