HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior
Julia Pollak (San Francisco, CA) pulled off a tough 3-0 sweep against Haverford, but it proved to be Vassar's only win in the 8-1 loss.
Pollak played the No. 3 position against Shreya Singh and won by scores of 11-5, 12-10 and 11-6.
Sydney Nemphos (Baltimore, MD) returned to action following her trip abroad and played the first spot. She fell 3-0, but kept it close with an 11-7 bout the final match.
Claire Coss (Penn Valley, PA) battled to an 11-9 loss the first match, but then fell 11-5 and 11-2. Â
Haverford swept the fourth to sixth spots against No. 4
Amanda Watson (Falmouth, ME), No. 5
Alexa Elias (New York, NY) and No. 6
Isabel Bronson (Monterey, MA). No. 7
Nicole Pihlstrom (Fort Collins, CO) fought a four-match contest against Sophia Jackson, but fell 3-1.
Natalia Lanzoni (Cambridge, MA) had the closed match, going five sets against Hannah Adler. She won the first two sets 11-9 and 11-6 before dropping the next three by marks of 5-11. Â
The Brewers will next compete by hosting Hamilton on Tues. Jan. 29. Â
