POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – On Wednesday, the Vassar College men's swimming & diving team concluded its home schedule by welcoming Montclair State to Kresge Pool.
Jake Mier (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) won all three of his individual events, but the Brewers ultimately dropped a 159-124 decision to the Red Hawks.
Mier just missed the pool record in the 200 yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:57.72. He also notched a 54.66-scond clocking in the 100 butterfly to take first by a mere .23 seconds. After the diving break, Mier returned to the pool for the 200 individual medley and finished in 2:01.64 for his third victory of the day.
Max White (Green Bay, WI), meanwhile, earned the win in both the 200 freestyle (1:44.48) and 500 freestyle (4:56.60). In addition, his time of 48.17 seconds in the 100 freestyle was faster than his previous facility record. However, White ended up second in the event behind Montclair State's Hunter Romanowski (48.06).
In his Vassar debut,
Anthony Tobin (Media, PA) swept the diving events. He tallied 195.98 points in the 1-meter competition and collected 202.13 points on the 3-meter board.
Will Riley (Newton, MA) finished second in both the 100 (1:02.14) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.75), while
Matthew Imiolek (St. Louis, MO) captured second place in the 50 freestyle (22.72).
Jordan Kalina (Palatine, IL) placed third in the 1000 freestyle (10:22.52), and
Duncan Webber (New York, NY) had a pair of third-place showings in the 100 backstroke (58.04) and 200 backstroke (2:07.54).
The Brewers return to action on Saturday, when they visit Pace at 2:30 p.m. It will be Vassar's final dual meet of the season.
