CAMBRIDGE, MA (February 17, 2018) – The Vassar women's squash team earned a 6-3 win over Georgetown University on Day Two of the CSA Nationals Team Tournament at Harvard University.
The No. 32 Hoyas came into Saturday with a 4-6 overall mark while Vassar improved to 14-8 with their win, tying the most wins in a single season in program history. The Brewers also won 14 games back in the 1990-91 season in which they were 14-6 overall.
The Brewers earned six points on the day to take don Georgetown. For the seventh match in a row,
Hannah Nice earned a win at the top spot for the Brewers, taking down Maddy Forbess 11-5, 11-5, 12-10. The next three wins for Vassar came at spots four, five and six.
Alessandra Pilkington scored a five-game win over Grace Alburger with scores of 9-11, 11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10. Next was
Cherylann Mucciolo at No. 5 with a five-game win as well. And in the sixth position,
Samantha Henderson earned a 3-0 victory.
At the bottom of the ladder,
Kelly Rissman and
Julia Pollak secured the Vassar team win. Rissman lost the first game before bouncing back to win three straight. And Pollak made quick work of Meghan Zorc at No.9 with scores of 11-6, 11-1, 11-8.
The Brewers take to the courts on Sunday for the final day of action at CSA Nationals when they face Haverford at 1:00 p.m. at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.
