POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Vassar men's squash wrapped up its opening weekend with a solid 9-0 sweep of Bryant on Sunday afternoon in Kenyon Hall. The No. 1 and No. 2 positions both went four sets, but Vassar had 3-0 clean sweeps from the third to ninth spots.
Caden Gruber (Costa Mesa, CA) played the first position and defeated Bryant's Yuvraj Duggal 3-1. Duggal took the first set 11-6, but Gruber won the next three with scores of 11-8, 11-9 and 11-3.
Alexander Wisneski (Mechanisburg, PA) picked up his first collegiate win against Uthej Tadisetty. Wisneski was strong in the first-two sets, going 11-5 and 11-7. Tadisetty took the third 11-7, but Wisneski sealed the bout in the final set 11-3.
Henry Mitchell (Yardley, PA) cruised to a 3-0 sweep while winning 11-6, 11-0 and 11-1 at the third position. No. 4
Isaac Stuart (Swampscott, MA), No. 5
Milind Joshi (Pune, India), No. 6 Travors Parsons-Grayson (Newport, VT) and No. 7
Reese Collins (Bedford, NH) all had 3-0 victories to close out the day.
Vassar travels to Annandale-on-Hudson, NY next to compete in the Bard Round Robin on Nov. 10-11. Matches start at 10 a.m. both days.
