POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Two more Kresge Pool records fell at the hands of the Vassar College men's swimming & diving team's
Max White (Green Bay, WI) on Saturday afternoon. He set new marks in both the 100- and 200 yard freestyle while also finishing first in the 500 freestyle to lead the Brewers in their 186-99 dual meet loss against RPI.
White's first event was the 200 freestyle, and he finished in 1:44.19 to shave a second off the pool record set by Daniel Wohl of Brandeis in the season-opening meet on Oct. 20. He then posted a time of 48.44 seconds in the 100 freestyle, which was 0.47 seconds better than the previous mark. In the 500 freestyle, White notched a 4:56.20 clocking to pick up his third individual win of the day.
Jake Mier (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) also earned a victory in the 400 individual medley. He recorded a time of 4:18.53. Mier added a second-place showing in the 200 butterfly (1:57.87) and a third-place result in the 100 butterfly (54.75).
Vassar also got a strong performance from
Jordan Kalina (Palatine, IL), who was second in the 1000 freestyle (10:30.50) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:04.40).
Matthew Imiolek (St. Louis, MO), meanwhile, took second in the 50 freestyle (22.52).
Nikolas Pham (Lancaster, PA) had a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.54) and 200 breaststroke (2:20.00), and
Ethan Skuches (Milford, CT) ended up third in both the 200 backstroke (2:05.14) and 1000 freestyle (10:34.94).
After starting the season with three of their first four meets at home, the Brewers hit the road for just the second time this season on Friday night. Vassar makes the short trip to New Paltz for a 6 p.m. dual meet.
