Vassar Women's Squash Notes - Liberty League, Conn. College

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (January 22, 2018) – The Vassar women's squash team will host the 2018 Liberty League Championships on Saturday, January 27 with matches against Bard, William Smith, and St. Lawrence. On Sunday, the Brewers will host their final home match of the season and celebrate Senior Day with an 11:00 a.m. contest against Connecticut College.

Last Time Out: Vassar picked up an 8-1 win over Bucknell last Saturday afternoon. Seven of the eight Brewer wins came in 3-0 fashion with Hannah NiceAlessandra PilkingtonCherylann MuccioloEmma GlickmanKelly RissmanAmanda Watson, and Julia Pollak all making quick work of the Bison. Sydney Nemphos needed four games to earn her win at No. 2. After she dropped the first game 8-11, she bounced back to win three straight, 11-3, 11-5, 11-4.

 
A Look at the Brewers (10-2):
  • Vassar is ranked 28th in the latest CSA rankings.
  • The Brewers have won seven straight matches dating back to November.
  • Emma Glickman and Kelly Rissman each own 10-2 records this season, the best on the team.
  • The Brewers have posted a 7-2 record in Kenyon Hall this season.

  • The Raptors lost all three matches last weekend falling to St. Lawrence, Colby College, and Haverford College.
  • Bard's two wins this season both came in November against Rochester and Smith College.
  • Sophomore Francesca Keller is the Raptor's No. 1 player this season.
 
A Look at the Herons (5-5):
  • William Smith is ranked No. 23 in the latest CSA Rankings.
  • The Herons opened the season 5-0, but have dropped five in a row since then.
  • Last time out, the team fell to Dickinson College and Cornell on January 13 and 14.
  • Sophomore Gabby Fraser is the Heron's No. 1 player and posts a 7-3 record on the season.
 
A Look at the Saints (5-6):
  • Saint Lawrence ranks 21st in the latest CSA Rankings.
  • The Saints have played nine matches already in 2018, going 5-4.
  • The team is coming off a 4-1 weekend in which they picked up wins against Bard, Conn. College, Wesleyan, and Mount Holyoke.
  • Junior Alex Matamoros Infante has played the majority of matches at the No. 1 spot for the Saints.  
 
 
A Look at the Camels (4-8):
  • Connecticut College is ranked 23rd in the latest CSA Rankings.
  • The Camels are just 2-4 since the turn of the calendar.
  • Connecticut is coming off a 1-2 weekend where they faced St. Lawrence, Mount Holyoke, and Wesleyan, picking up a 6-3 win over the Lyons.
  • Senior Mawa Ballo is the No. 1 player for the Camels this season,
