Last Time Out: The Brewers scored first on Wednesday at Manhattanville, as senior Hayden Van Brewer continued his goal binge of late with a free kick goal in the 32nd minute. Manhattanville answered with a volley in the middle of the box by Oskar Martinsson two minutes later, before the rest of regulation was played without a tally. In overtime, the duo combined again, this time with Jon Kyriakidis scoring to earn the win for the Valiants. Vassar outshot M'Ville 11-10, while the hosts had five of the game's eight corner kicks.

A Look At The Brewers (2-1):

  • The Brewer offense has looked effective this season, scoring eight goals through three games in 2017, which ranks as the most in the conference. VC's 2.667 goals per game are the second-most.
  • VC is also tied for the third-stingiest defense in the Liberty League, surrendering just three goals through three games.
  • Senior Hayden Van Brewer had never scored a goal at VC until this year, but they've come all at once, as the standout is second in the conference with three tallies.
  • Van Brewer is also tied atop the total points standings coming into the weekend, as he has posted eight with his three goals and two assists.
  • During his career, the Brewers have gone 9-0-1 when sophomore Mattie Mrlik has scored at least one goal.
  • Over the last two seasons, the overtime periods have not been friendly to the Brewers. During that time, VC has gone 0-4-4 in games that have gone past 90 minutes.
  • The Brewers have clamped down in the second half of games, allowing no scores in the second period of games thus far this season.
  • Possession has been on full display for the Brewers during the season, as VC has picked up 17 corner kicks to just the nine from its opposition.
  • Vassar does not mind hitting the road for a contest, and has had some success, going 7-7-1 over the last three years.
  • Freshman Austin Lukasik has made an impact already for VC, starting all three games for the Brewers as an outside back while playing the most minutes (261) on the team so far.
  • Freshman Andrew Goldsmith and sophomore Kevin Baliat earned their first career starts on Wednesday at Manhattanville.

A Look At The Ducks (2-1):

  • Stevens is coming off a thrilling home 2-1 overtime win over The College of New Jersey on Wednesday evening. Freshman Cristiano Hocken netted the score in overtime.
  • For the second consecutive match, the Stevens' defensive corps, led by seniors Jonas Melendez, Tommy Dorsay, Patrick Boylan, and freshman Jacob Curtis, who each played 92 minutes, kept the opposing team's high-scorer off the sheet.
  • Hocken scored the Duck's first goal of the game as well, entering in the 25th minute and netting a tally three minutes later to put Stevens up 1-0.
  • Steven's lone loss this year came to No. 14 Oneonta, a 2-0 defeat last Sunday in Hoboken, NJ.
  • Along with Hocken, Chris Cesario has scored a pair of goals for the Ducks while Kevin Brito has also tallied twice for Stevens.
  • Haddy Abdelhady has dished out a pair of assists to lead Stevens, and Daniel Aversano and Jonas Melendez also each have an assist apiece.
  • Junior Aaron Henry has played all 272 minutes between the pipes for the Ducks, making seven saves while allowing five goals.
  • Stevens went 11-5-2 in 2016, advancing to the Empire 8 Championships but falling in penalties to fourth-seed St. John Fisher.

Against Stevens All-Time: Vassar renews its rivalry with Stevens after a year hiatus, as the Brewers look to improve upon its 3-12-2 record against the Ducks all-time. Vassar has lost the last eight meetings with the two teams, and has been outscored 27-3 over that span.

Up Next: Vassar finishes its three-game road stretch on Wednesday, September 13, heading across the Hudson River to take on local rival New Paltz in non-conference play at 4 p.m.
