Vassar Women's Lacrosse Notes — Bard

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (April 11, 2017) — The Vassar College women's lacrosse team (5-5, 2-2 Liberty) returns home to take on conference foe Bard College at 6 p.m. on April 14th.

Last Time Out: The Brewers came away with a big win last Saturday afternoon in conference play against RIT. The squad won 12-7 thanks in large part to four goal games from both Kelly Pushie and Storm Sideleau.

A Look at the Brewers (4-4, 2-2 LL):

  • On April 3, Kelly Pushie was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week. Pushie won this award her six point, five goal week.

  • Pushie was again awarded the Rookie of the Week honor this week for her four goal performance against RIT.

  • Tessa Waters was named to the Liberty League Honor Roll on April 3rd for a six point and four goal week.

  • The Brewers currently sit in the fifth place spot in the Liberty League, but are looking to move up in the rankings with a win over Bard.

  • Vassar's two conference losses came against William Smith and Rochester University the top two teams in the league.

  • Vassar is fourth in conference in goals per game (10.9) and points per game (15), and third in assists per game (4.1).

  • The Brewers are led in scoring by two freshman, Tessa Waters (23 goals) and Pushie (20 goals), and one junior, Storm Sideleau (20 goals.)

  • Amelia Rivoir leads the squad in assists with 7.

  • Sydney Nemphos and Emily Chancey lead Vassar in ground balls with 17 each.

  • Sara Mathes lead the team with 11 caused turnovers, while Fiona MacLeod is second on the squad with 10.

  • Julia Trudell has the most draw control wins with 20.

A Look at the Raptors (3-5, 0-4  LL):

  • Bard was on a three game win streak prior to the start of conference play, but has dropped all four of its conference matches.

  • In their last contest the Raptors to the University of Rochester 3-15.

  • Melissa Rosenthal scored two goals and earned one assist in this contest, while Dylan McDonald had one goal, two draw control wins, and two ground balls.

  • Rosenthal was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week and Eastern College Athletic Conference Corvias Division III North Rookie of the Week back in March.

  • Caleigh DeCaprio leads all Raptors in goals with 14.

  • Rosenthal leads her squad with 7 assists on the season.

  • Dylan McDonald and Rosenthal lead the team in caused turnovers with 9.

  • Nicole Ellin has the most draw control wins this season with 22.

  • As a team, the Raptors shoot at 42% with a 74% shot-on-goal percentage.

Against Bard All-Time: The Brewers are 6-0 against Bard all-time, going back to 2011. Vassar won the 18-11 when they played last on April 1, 2016.

 

Next Up: Vassar will head to Saratoga Springs, NY to take on Skidmore College in conference play on Friday April 21. Then, the Brewers will travel to Troy, NY on the April 22 to face-off against RPI.
