Last Time Out: The Brewers ended their fall season at ITA Regionals in October. Senior
Nick Litsky picked up three wins before falling 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinal round.
A Look At the Brewers:
- Three Brewers come into the weekend undefeated. Senior Juan Felipe Laso has posted a 3-0 record thus far for Vassar in dual matches, with a win over nationally ranked Williams College in the No. 3 spot in singles.
- Sophomore Nick Lee enters the match with Clark University on a two-game winning streak, picking up wins over Union and Bard.
- Before ITA Regionals, the Brewers notched two 9-0 wins against Union and Bard.
- Freshman Allen Sokolov enters play this weekend 2-1 in the No. 2 singles position in dual meets, while going 2-2 overall on the season.
- Senior Nick Litsky and Freshman Dom Demeterfi lead the team in doubles at 2-0 in the No. 1 doubles spot in dual matches.
- Litsky leads the team with a 5-2 mark thus far this season, going 3-1 at the ITA Regional Championships back in October.
- Vassar has posted a .722 winning percentage in dual matches this season, dropping only five of 18 matches in singles action.
- VC has been just as effective in double play, winning six of the nine points in pairs in 2016-17.
- Head coach Alex Wong is in his fourth season, and has led the Brewers to a 30-34 record as the head coach of the Brewers.
A Look at the Cougars:
- The Cougars are coming off of a 6-1 win over Holy Cross on October 5, bringing their record to 3-1.
- Clark has picked up wins over Stonehill College, Regis College and Holy Cross, while falling to Endicott College back on September 21, 5-4.
- The team is led in singles by freshmen Barun Gill and Jack Han, who have 4-0 records in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.
- Gill and Han also lead the team in doubles as a pair at the No. 1 doubles spot.
- Gill paired with junior Lenny Siegel to pick up a 2-0 record at the No. 2 doubles spots.
- Sophomore Teodor Nicola-Antoniu comes into the weekend with a 3-1 record with a 2-0 record at the No. 4 doubles spot.
- Clark University has picked up 19 of their 24 singles bouts this season, as only one player has a losing record on the campaign.
Last Meeting: The Brewers and the Cougars met once last year, as Vassar picked up a 9-0 home victory. Vassar also knocked off Clark back in 2014-15, earning a 5-0 win as the match was played until completion in Worcester.
Next Up: Vassar Tennis will face the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers in a home Liberty League matchup in Walker Field House in Poughkeepsie, NY on Friday, February 17.
