ROCHESTER, NY (February 5, 2017) — The Vassar College men's squash team (5-12) was shut out by No. 7 St. Lawrence University and Hobart College on Day 2 of the Liberty League Championship in Rochester, NY on Sunday.
Against the Saints, the Brewers all fell in three sets. Three Brewers posted at least 10 points against their opponents: Viraj Nadkarni lost to Ahmed Bayoumy at two, 11-5, 11-5, 11-4; Alex Riccio was defeated by George Willis at seven, 11-7, 11-6, 11-7; and Isaac Stuart fell to Aran Thawani at nine, 11-3, 11-6, 11-3.
At the top of the lineup, Vincent Mencotti lost by retirement against Mohamed El Gawarhy after posting a score of 11-6, causing everyone else to move up a spot in the day's second match.
Against the Statesmen, the Brewers all lost in three sets, with two of them posting at least 10 points against their opponents: Nadkarni fell to No. 54 Josh Oakley at one, 11-5, 11-2, 11-5, while Richard Bryenton was beaten by Jack Shannon at four, 11-8, 11-4, 11-4.
At the two, Ankit Khosla lost by retirement against Felipe Pantle after scores of 11-3, 11-0, 5-1.
Up next, the Brewers compete in the CSA Championship on Friday through Sunday, Feb. 19 at a time that is to be determined.
