LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (February 24, 2017) — Hannah Nice and Diana Howland picked up wins on Day 1 of the CSA Championships, as the Vassar College women's squash team (10-5) lost to Mount Holyoke College in Lawrenceville, NJ on Friday, 7-2.
Nice took down Brandy Williamson at one in four sets, 11-6, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, while Howland beat Tanishka Sachindanan at seven in straight sets, 11-7, 11-8, 11-5. Nice improves to a team-leading 13-1 record, having won her past 11 matches, while Howland moves to 11-3.
At the four, Sydney Nemphos fought Allison Shilling to four sets before ultimately falling 12-10, 11-3, 8-11, 11-4; and at the nine, Samantha Henderson fought Amanda Lee all the way to five sets before losing 6-11, 11-2, 12-10, 9-11, 11-7.
All other Brewers fell in straight sets. Jiamin Wu lost to Ragini Ghose at two, 12-10, 11-1, 11-4; Isabelle Bertram was beaten by Nadindhi Udangawa at three, 11-6, 11-4, 11-2; Carly Scher fell to Lessly Portillo at five, 11-2, 13-11, 11-2; Alessandra Pilkington was defeated by Emily Chang at six, 11-5, 11-3, 11-2; and Emma Glickman was topped by Rose Minichiello at eight, 11-5, 11-9, 11-5.
The Brewers return to action for Day 2 of the Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25, facing Bucknell University at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ at noon.
