POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (December 2, 2017) – The Vassar women's squash team defended their home courts with two wins in Kenyon Hall on Saturday. The Brewers began their day with a close 5-4 win over Bates College and ended the day with a 9-0 victory over Haverford.
In the win over the Bobcats, it was the bottom of the ladder that brought home the victory. For Vassar, positions five through nine grabbed the wins after the top spots dropped their games. At No. 5,
Cherylann Mucciolo bested Hannah Conner 11-9, 11-7, 11-8. Next up,
Samantha Henderson earned a 11-2, 11-9, 11-6 win at No. 6. In the seventh spot,
Emma Glickman clinched the win with a five-game win over Tiffany Cervantes. The senior went back and forth with Cervantes, but came out on top winning the final two games 11-8 and 11-7.
Kelly Rissman and
Rebecca Slotkin rounded out the nine players for Vassar, each winning 3-0.
Against the Fords, all nine Vassar players picked up a win. At the top,
Hannah Nice rebounded with an easy 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 win.
Sydney Nemphos won 9-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5 in the second spot.
Jiamin Wu responded with an 11-7, 11-8, 11-5 victory and at No. 4,
Alessandra Pilkington won 11-4, 11-9, 11-5. In the exhibition match,
Amanda Watson earned a win as well (11-1, 11-2, 11-1).
Vassar will resume their season on January 20, 2018 when they host Boston College and Bucknell University in Kenyon Hall.
