POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 6, 2017) – The Vassar women's squash team, picked up two more wins on Sunday, taking down Boston University, 9-0, and Bucknell, 6-3.
All nine players for Vassar picked up 3-0 wins in the victory over Boston, making quick work of the Terriers.
Hannah Nice picked up where she left off on Saturday with an impressive 11-2, 11-0, 11-1 win at the No. 1 spot.
Sydney Nemphos added a 3-0 win at No. 2 (11-3, 11-5, 11-8).
Jiamin Wu picked up her second win of the season, going 11-0, 11-3, 11-3 in the No. 3.
At No. 4,
Alessandra Pilkington won 11-4, 11-4, 11-1 for her second victory of the season.
Cherylann Mucciolo played at No. 5 on the ladder, winning 11-3, 11-9, 11-7. In the sixth spot,
Samantha Henderson, won easily 11-3, 11-5, 11-1.
Emma Glickman played at No. 7, winning 11-2, 11-0, 11-3 over Meghana Patnana. In the eighth spot,
Kelly Rissman took down Erin Ko, 11-0, 11-2, 11-1. And to round out at No. 9,
Isa Pengskul topped Sarah Finkel, 11-1, 11-2, 11-1.
Later in the afternoon, the team won a much closer match over the Bison, 6-3. With the same ladder, Vassar earned wins at No. 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, and 9 spots.
Nice claimed a 3-0 victory at No. 1, 11-4, 11-1, 11-3. Wu battled for a 3-1 win, 11-6, 11-7, 10-12, 11-2 at No. 3. Pilkington played at the No. 4, earning a 3-0 win with scores of 11-3, 11-7, 11-8.
In the 7-9 spots, Glickman, Rissman, and Pengskul all won to give Vassar the advantage. Glickman posted a 3-0 victory, 12-10, 11-5, 11-5. Rissman had to fight for five games to earn the 3-2 victory. The senior won the first game, but dropped the next two before regaining momentum to win the final two games (11-7, 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 13-12). In the ninth spot, Pengskul also had to play the full five before winning 3-2. The junior dropped the first game, won the next two, and picked up the fifth game for the win (4-11, 11-9, 11-8, 10-12, 11-6).
The team is back in action next Saturday in Hamilton, NY where they will face William Smith, University of Rochester, and Colgate beginning at noon.
