POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 2, 2017) – The Vassar men's soccer team locked up their second straight No. 2 seed in the Liberty League Tournament and thus advanced straight to the semifinals. On Saturday, the Brewers will face third seeded St. Lawrence at Cozzens Field in Geneva, NY for the right to play in the league championship game.

A Look At The Brewers (9-4-3, 6-1-2 Liberty League)

- Vassar won six league games this season, the most regular season conference wins in program history.
- Vassar has the 2nd best goals against average in the league, allowing just 0.94 goals per game.
- Jose Novas leads the team in goals (7) and points (18) and is tied for the most assists (4).
- Novas ranks second in the conference in points and first in game-winning-goals (4).
- Kevin Baliat, Mattie Mrlik, Hayden Van Brewer, and Novas has all chipped in four assists this season.

- Led by Jethro Dede and Brendan McNamee (15 points each), the Saints have put forth a prolific offense this year, and are third in the Liberty League in goals.
- Proof of their offensive prowess, the Saints have three of the league's best assisters. Tapshak Augustine, Rob Brandell, and Ryan Roche have all dished out four assists this season.
- In 17 games played, goalkeeper Mike Smith has amassed 7 shutouts. Additionally, he averages 4.29 saves per game.
- The Saints are 4-5-1 in away games this year and 1-0-0 in neutral-site games.
Against St. Lawrence All-Time: The Brewers are 5-11-3 all-time against the Saints. In the regular season, Vassar came out on top 2-1 back on October 14. The last time these two sides met in the postseason was back in 2013, when the Saints shutout Vassar 1-0.
A Look At the Tournament Field: If Vassar wins their Liberty League Semifinal match against St. Lawrence, they will advance to the championship game on Sunday to face the winner of Hobart and RIT.
A Look At The Statesmen (8-4-4, 6-0-3 Liberty League)
- In their season finale, The Statesmen of Hobart edged out the Saints of St. Lawrence and thus captured first place in the Liberty League.
- Hobart has been a disciplined, clutch team all season long. They've allowed 13 goals on the season, while scoring 19. Thus, although not dominant, they've clawed their way to a stellar season.
- Led by Hunter Critchlow (4 goals, 9 points), the Statesmen mount an extremely balanced attack, and have had ten different players score on the year.
- Junior goalkeeper Alec Kaminer has played in 12 games, and boasts the best goals against average in the league (.789).
- This is the second consecutive season that Hobart has had the best regular-season record in the league. Last year, they fell to Skidmore in the semifinals.
- Hobart is 4-3-2 at home this season.
A Look At The Tigers (8-5-3, 5-2-2 Liberty League)
- The Tigers have been on an absolute tear, and are 6-0-2 in their past 8 games. In their past four alone, they have outscored their opponents 15-3, and are consequently 4-0.
- The Tigers have the greatest margin of victory in the Liberty League as a result of their truly exceptional offense – an offense that has scored a league-leading 37 goals on the season.
- Simon Garno (18 points) and Dean Kouroupas (17 points) rank third and fourth in the league in points, respectively.
- Although Garno has garnered quite a bit of attention from opposing defenses, he has still managed to dish out an awe-inspiring 12 assists in 16 games this year.
- RIT is 2-1-3 in away games on the year, and has yet to play in a neutral-site game.
