POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (November 19, 2017) -- The Vassar College women's fencing team hosted the 2017 Matt Lampell Hudson River Invitational in Walker Field House, taking third place in action from Walker Field House Sunday afternoon.
The Brewers opened the day with a 21-6 loss to eventual champion Drew University, but rebounded with 16-11 wins over Queens College, RIT and Long Island University at Post. After a tough 15-12 loss to West Point, Vassar finished the day with a 23-4 victory over Yeshiva University. Prior to the matches, Vassar honored its three senior fencers in sabre fencers

The Vassar sabre team was once again very strong on Sunday, led by Innes-Gold, who went 18-0 on the day. The senior has lost just one bout all season so far. Squad mate
Rose Parker posted eight wins in sabre, while Hutchinson also finished the day with 11 victories.
The foil team excelled as well for Vassar, led by standout junior
Mirit Rutishauser and her 16 victories on the afternoon. Morgan had a successful senior day with 10 wins, while
Isabella Migani returned from injury to chalk up eight wins in foil for VC (8-5).
Vassar will get a weekend off before finishing its home slate December 3 with the Traditional Multi-Meet, hosting Harvard, Sacred Heart, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, Penn State University, Temple University and New York University.
