HAMILTON, NY (November 11, 2017) – The Vassar College women's squash team went 2-1 at the Colgate Round Robin on Saturday in Hamilton, New York. The Brewers fell to William Smith, 8-1, before picking up two 9-0 wins over the University of Rochester and Colgate.
Against William Smith, five Vassar players lost by scores of 3-0. Three Vassar players pushed a few games past the match point of 11. At No. 1,
Hannah Nice was close in all three games falling 11-8, 12-10, 11-9. At No. 4,
Alessandra Pilkington held the scores tight at 12-10, 11-6, 11-7. And in the seventh spot,
Emma Glickman lost 3-1. The senior dropped the first two before claiming the third game and falling in the fourth.
Later in the day against the Yellow Jackets, the Brewers played against only six players. With a shuffled ladder, Vassar claimed wins at Nos. 1-6.
Cherylann Mucciolo played at No. 1 winning easily 11-3, 11-9, 11-0. At No. 2,
Samantha Henderson took down Maria Majid 11-8, 11-7, 11-4. Glickman played at No. 3 winning 11-3, 11-6, 11-0. Next in line was
Kelly Rissman at No. 4. She earned an 11-2, 11-1, 11-0 win. At No. 5,
Isa Pengskul topped Hannah Bullock 11-2 in all three games. And up at No. 6,
Rebecca Slotkin earned a win with scores of 11-2, 11-2, 11-6.
In their final match of the day, the Brewers took down the hosts, 9-0. The Brewers rolled out their normal line ups with Nice at No. 1 winning 11-5, 11-0, 11-3.
Sydney Nemphos topped Olivia Taylor 11-2, 11-3, 11-5.
Jiamin Wu made easy work at the third spot winning 11-5, 11-5, 11-4. Pilkington played well at No. 4 winning 11-6, 11-9, 11-4. Mucciolo was back at No. 5 taking down Jamie Hogan 11-2, 11-0, 11-4. Henderson in the fifth position earned an 11-5, 11-7, 12-10 hard fought win. Glickman grabbed a win at No. 7, topping Mallory Lynch 11-4, 11-7, 11-4.
Kelly Rissman was slotted at No. 8, topping Hallie Burke 11-3, 11-5, 11-8. And in the ninth spot, Pengskul took care of Laura Bunn 11-4, 11-3, 11-3.
Rebecca Slotkin got in on the action with an exhibition match against Maggie Davis. The senior picked up a 3-1 win (10-12, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8).
The Brewers are done for the weekend and get back in action at the Bard Round Robin beginning next Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY.
